Perplexity has officially launched Comet, its AI-powered, agentic browser, on Android, taking its signature AI-native browsing experience from desktop to mobile.
A New Chapter for Comet
Comet, described by Perplexity as the “world’s first truly AI-native browser,” was first introduced in July 2025 for desktop users. With its Android release, the company now brings that vision directly to mobile.
What You Get on Android
- Built-in AI Assistant: Just like on desktop, Android users can summon Perplexity’s AI assistant within the browser to ask questions, automate tasks, or summarize content across tabs.
- Voice Mode: Use voice commands to chat with the assistant about what’s open in your tabs or to explore the web more naturally.
- Cross-Tab Summaries: The assistant can scan all your open tabs and provide a unified summary — useful for research or catching up on many pages.
- Ad Blocker: The Android version comes with an integrated ad blocker that removes pop-ups and clutter.
- Agentic Actions: The assistant isn’t just reactive — it can help with more complex tasks, like shopping or research, by acting on your behalf.
Features Coming Soon
Perplexity says it is working to add more capabilities in the near future:
- Full Voice Agent: A more powerful voice-controlled assistant is on the roadmap, letting the AI act more independently.
- Password Manager: A built-in password manager is planned, though for now, Android’s native manager can be used.
- Cross-Device Sync: Features like sync for browsing history and bookmarks between desktop and mobile are expected to arrive soon.
Limitations & User Feedback
- Sync Missing: As of now, mobile and desktop versions don’t support syncing of bookmarks or history.
- Early Testing Phase: The Android build is being rolled out to select testers initially.
- Security Concerns: Some security analysts have flagged potential risks around AI-based agent interactions in browsers.
With Comet for Android, Perplexity brings its powerful AI assistant out of the desktop and into your pocket. The launch marks a meaningful step in turning web browsing into a more intelligent, conversational, and proactive experience — even as more advanced features are still in progress.
